EWTN PROGRAM ONE DAY-ONE BILLION PRAYERS USES ENG FTP FOR KAZAN RUSSIA EVENT FOOTAGE. 

Kazan, Russia 10/08/2006 --On October 8th, 2006 viewers of EWTN were able to witness same day prayer groups in Kazan, Russia and Fatima Portugal thanks in part to services provided by ENG FTP.

Bruce Wilkinson, the President and COO of ENG FTP said, " Our client wanted to be able to receive video for integration into their programming of a worldwide event from places not well served by the telecommunications industry".  "Our services were a perfect fit for them and since time was of the essence we delivered by satellite our ingested video directly to their production facility for rapid turnaround which is exactly what they needed".

ENG FTP provides a unique service that combines the benefits of video FTP and the reach of satellite distribution. The edited and B-roll video of the prayer services was sent to New York from Kazan and Fatima through file transfer and was immediately made available to the USA event location and production facility in Washington, New Jersey on the same satellite used to backhaul the programming to EWTN.

The event organizer was the World Apostolate of Fatima and was managed by Mr. Michael Lacorte. Mr Lacorte started planning of the event months in advance with the goal of having and showing one world praying independent of denomination.  He said that they accomplished their goal of one billion prayers and that seeing the concurrent events in Fatima and Kazan were great additions to their live programming.

"From strictly a business prospective this event did not make sense for us", Wilkinson said. "It takes a long time to get camera crews up to speed with our compression requirements plus add to that the language barrier and you have a labor intensive project". "In the end we were more than happy to be involved not only because it was a worthwhile project we have now added crews capable of providing us with material in hard to reach places that no doubt we will use again".
